SCIC'S MISSION
Southern California Indian Center, Inc. (SCIC) goals are to promote social and economic self-sufficiency for American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian people. To achieve these goals, SCIC's objectives are:
- To promote, foster and encourage programs for the general welfare, education and social benefit of our people;
- To establish and maintain education, cultural, economic and recreational programs for our people;
- To eliminate barriers of discrimination of race, religion and gender;
- To educate and broaden the knowledge of the American public on American Indian, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian people's issues and cultures, regarding our positive contributions to society as a people

SCIC BEADING CIRCLE - FOUNTAIN VALLEY
Every Wednesday
Join SCIC's Beading Circle at the Fountain Valley Office every Wednesday from Noon until 4:00 PM. The beading Circle is an open event led by Carolyn Reyes. Bring your own supplies and projects, either new or old, and share this special time as a community - See the Special Activities Page on this website for a informational flyer and visit this page in the future to see photos of this unique cultural event. The Fountain Valley Office is located on 10175 Slater Avenue, Suite 150, Fountain Valley or call the office at (714)962-6673 for further information.
PHASES AND STAGES - LOS ANGELES
Every Wednesday
Promotes parenting skills through cultural preservation. in Stage 1, Families design and build traditional American Indian cradleboards, specific to the tribe of the newborn Indian Child. In Stage 2 families design and sew umbilical cord pouches. The pouches are embellished with glass beads, individually sewn onto leather as appropriate to the tribe of the child. Not all tribes save the umbilical cords and if your tribe is one that does, this is an excellent opportunity. Stage 3, families design moccasins for the baby's first steps.

Visit the SCIC online Indian Market for the opportunity to purchase beautiful American Indian made jewelry, art, Beadwork and fine, American Indian themed Pendleton Blankets and sundry items. As of September 23, 2014, we are just completing our online market's beta process and two high end test items have been uploaded. Within the coming days more items shall be uploaded and all items are reasonably priced. There is something for everyone, for the high end art collector, the Powwow person and for the supporters of Southern California Indian Centers. SCIC is a 501(C)3 Non-Profit organization and all purchases are tax deductible. SCIC complies with and wholeheartedly supports the Indian Arts and Crafts Act (P.L.101-644). We support American Indian artisans and craftsmen. We sell only the work of certified Indian artisans. Visit often as items change. Soon to be added, SCIC themed items like ball caps, shirts, bags, Powwow booklets and posters...and much, much more!!!
